The film is a classy film about a gangstar who tries to kill a cop but fails and kills his son. So the cop wants revenge but in order to get this the cop has to part with his wife for a while which doesn't turn out very well. But in the end him and his wife get together again and have even adopted a kid called Adam.

John Woo directs this glossy mixture of extreme violence tinged with theatrical sentimentality like he did in his film ‘Bullet In the Head'. In Face Off, the plot revolves around an embittered FBI agent played by John Travolta who, after finally capturing the Troy brothers, Casper ( played by Nicholas Cage ) and Pollox, must use the surgically transplanted face from a comatose Casper to learn the whereabouts of a nerve-agent bomb from an unsuspecting Pollox. Things don't go as smoothly as expected, resulting in some clever juxtapositioning between the two main characters.

An interesting film in the way it marries a big Hollywood formula production to the direction of a highly respected Chinese viewpoint.

Wow! That saying means alot coming from me. Travolta makes an excellent bad guy and so does Cage! Best thriller/drama/action movie ever. The visuals were shockingly good as when Castor Troy (Cage) and Shaun Archer (Travolta) had plastic surgery it looked so real! I began to think if they actually did switch bodies? Great movie overall though A+

The movie shows the importance of love,dedication and commitment of a person to his work may it be good or bad.
This is a family oriented movie too and it is very heart warming. I love the part when the wife discovered that the "husband" she's with currently is a fake one.
It broke my heart and at the same time inspired me.

I love Nicholas in this film its simply AWESOME! What else can I say that have not been said about this film. It is excitng, action and excellent acting. I love John Travolta in this film as well and it was th first I ever saw him in after Grease.

FBI agent Sean Archer (Travolta) knows how to stop elusive terrorist Castor Troy (Cage). He'll become him. Archer undergoes a futuristic surgery and has Troy's face mapped onto his, then infiltrates the terrorist's world to discover his deadly secrets. But as much as Archer looks and acts like Troy, he doesn't really know him. He never figures Troy will retaliate and force doctors to transform him into Archer. Now the agent faces a shattering nightmare: his archrival is living with his family.

This one has a tough job of convincing the audience that the main characters, Travolta and Cage, could swap faces via plastic surgery and still be convincing as one another. It works! Woo has a certain style down-the long flowing robes, slow mo shootouts, orchestral hype in the background, furious shoot outs, explosions, etc. Essentially a more stylish Bruckheimer movie if ya think about it.

I have always liked the Bald guy and Gina Gershon here the most from the supporting cast, and enjoyed the way both the leads got to 'understand' the others' family, way of life, friends, etc. You have to like how Castor gets Travolta's girl to learn knife fighting, for example, or seeing the camaraderie of Cage's group.

Good shootouts and action, sometimes the conceits here are quite far flung, but you can live with that as an audience. I sure did, and so give this...

First you have to give it to Mr. John Woo. When it comes to movies he has a way with them. I didn't think it would be easy to swap Cage and Travolta and keep the movie going but it worked. The acting was on the money as well and the action. I would give this movie an A+. A must see and a classic in its time.

Face/Off is by far the best action movie ever. John Travolta and Nicholas Cage are the ultimate rivals in this blast-em-up thriller, and John Woo creates a stimulating movie with great choreography. His film techniques are excellent; the pigeons in the church, the flapping of Cage's jacket as steps outside, and a dozen other scenes... The story is just as good- there actually is one. It will be a long time before we see a movie that tops Face/Off.
