Good movie. If you enjoy things blowing up and war movies, this is for you. It seems to me the plot got lost somewhere and just went for graphic scenes. The plot was there and I liked the plot but there just seemed to a lot of unnecessary stuff. Still worth a watch but I liked "Patton" and "Das Boat" much more. Then again, I'm not a war buff, I just watched this because of the ratings. Sorry if my opinion is different from yours.

@Drgibson I don't know what kind of Dr u are but u have no clue of European History Of 1939-45.1 of all Hitler was Democratically Elected not by Majority about 290 seats of the Reichstag.After the Elections President Hindenburg appointed Hitler Chancellor,then Hitler successfully passed the Enabling Act through Parliament which Gave him Absolute Power.And u are the one who are saying what u have seen in Movies like most Russian Soldiers had no guns from"Enemy at the Gates"Hitler and Stalin were both Ruthless Bastards!!!And u say all German soldiers were Nazis!That is just Stupid less than 4% of the Wermacht were actual members of the Nazi(National Socialist)Party.The SS And special Units were most of the Brain washed Nazis were.And Germans didn't go to the Army for the soul reason to kill Jews as u pointed out that's just plain silly.There was a Draft they had to go!!!That's like saying American soldiers went to Vietnam to kill all the Vietnamese!!!

Not many movies depict the 2nd world war through the eyes of the german soldier,Great anti war film and a must watch for those who enjoy this subject!

Not the best ive seen but worth a watch 7/10

One of the best WWII movies ever made. This one, "The longest day" and "Stalingrad" are true must see´s if there is such a thing. Full marks from me. 5/5 Stars!

Hitler was in fact democractically elected in 1933 and then had another democratic vote to suspend elections. As for Russian's not being merciless opponents, we're considering poeple who rounded up entire villages of their own people, had men women and children alike link arms and march through mine fields to save time. Stepping on one effectively cleared the mind in Russian eyes, your option was either to take to gamble of marching through the field and hoping like hell you or someone next to you didn't step on a mine, or face fire from your own Country's soldiers. Other than the SS divisions which came in later the military by German law was not allowed to be politically minded. Not to deny there were not anti-semits and pro-nazi's in the army, only special branches created by the party carried out the atrocities you spoke of. The Nazi party itself was as cruel or worse than Stanlin's communists, refusing to follow and order, like reporting to work in a concentration camp would see you and you immediate family cast into the same camp as prisoners instead of guards.
