Think of Hostel 1, then reduce the torcher and gore, this is a just a much weaker version of the first, nothing new here. Parts were mildey amusing but overral you can skip this one, plus the begining ruins the first one. This film was just crap crap crap. A complete waste.

This sequel is even better than the original. This film has better material and more gore than the original. Eli Roth improved and still did an amazing job. Even though, I hate torture porn. That disturbing bloody sequence with Heather hanging, it is hard to watch. Overall, this is not for the squeamish, only for the strong stomachs. =]

Though not as dark as the first Hostel, part 2 still has plenty of "look away" scenes that made this franchise the next brand of horror along the lines of "SAW" and "Turistas". The feeling of unknown forces playing puppet master to the twisted games these people played made Hostel all the more frightening and mysterious. For the 2nd part they gave the organization a face and I'm not sure that was a good idea cause it changed the whole feel of the film. Despite the predictable characters and the obvious plot ahead, Tarrantino's writing was much more evident in this with the clever twists and surprise outcomes that are signature of his style of misdirecting audiences. Though still not as brutal as the first, a deeper storyline was developed in its place. Still worthy of any gore fan's attention.

I felt the violence in this film was much more controlled and epic, if that is conceivable. In the same film, there is a glorious nod to Elizabeth Bathory as well as a sick joke using Ruggero Deodato, the director of “Cannibal Holocaust.” And it all works. Also, the way the film ends with one of the most brutally violent comedic jokes in cinema history just makes me think, “Wow.” It certainly takes guts and talent to go there and actually pull it off. With this film, everything just comes together beautifully–showing that the filmmaker has definitely come into his own

The First hostel was more intense in every sense. This one is not a bad sequel but you feel something lost its way from transitioning first to second part. The first movie seemed very raw while this one seemd to try and infringe what was already established and just add nothing new. The twisted ending sets up a promising premise for the final stride of the movie but in the end, the execution of the epilogue is just plain, stale and unsatisfying. If you like gore and scripted torture with close to B acting, then this is your flick.
