When watching this you need to keep in mind that the color and mood of the respective shows reflect which character they are portraying. You'll notice that Batman the animated series is much darker, but so is Batmans character. Gotham is very dark, very gloomy, it's often raining. Yet Superman's series is much brighter, much happier, and this is the way Superman is. He isn't the "Dark Knight", he fights for truth justice and the American way. He's supposed to bring hope, not inspire fear. And as for "never seeming to do right with Superman", this is a daunting task indeed. Superman is, arguably, the most powerful character in the DC or Marvel universe. He is a difficult character to write for because if he is given the power level that he usually has in some of the comics, then he would have no trouble beating any of his foes. This is why they seem to "dumb him down" almost, and why there is always trouble in finding the right medium or power to give him. For example, in Superman: The Animated Series Superman must wear a special suit when in space, yet in pretty much any other series or comic he is able to fly in space without one. In my opinion as both a comic and superhero fan,they pulled this series off very well.

this show was all right but but Batman of 1997 was way better and it only has 2 seasons.
