The best Arthurian movie ever made! Nicole Williamson's brilliant portrayal of Merlin is without peers! Merlin kicks ass in this movie!

My thoughts re the movie are similar to all else. It was the best depiction of it's time for this type of film. Notie that Liam Neilson & John Luc Picard are Knights and Gabriel Byrne played Uther. Dramatic enough film so much I wish I could go back in time to have lived back then as a queen or some person important, not a poor wretch! 9/10 bcz I think the ending should've been more fleshed out.

Extremely well done, and I too think it stands up against anything being made now, with or without the CGI. This one, of course, lends itself entirely to the legend (which is fine by me), but is lavish in everything from costumes and cast to the soundtrack. Malory would have been pleased: 10/10.

had this on dvd when it 1st came out and will never grow tired of it. this is a darker version of excalibur and arthur and merlin. a must watch for all fans. the pace is good and the soundtrack ( "O FORTUNA" ) fits this perfectly especially when theyre on horseback. dont let this one pass you by and ignore the stupid comments below as this is great for 1981. 11/10

no wonder the acting was so great many royal Shakespeare actors including king arthur so wonderfully done by nigel terry and great to see fairly early patrick stewart and others armor was excellent noticed they had a head armorer and at least 4 others amazing what great acting can do for a movie you dont need the special effects

One of my favorite movies ever. One of the few movies of the early 80's that have nothing to jealous from nowadays productions. Great cating, great plot, great movie. 1000/1000

i have to say this is my favourite merlin and king arthur film out of all the versions i think because it is darker and not to mention better acting i love it seen it so many times will watch it soo many more

- the music when Arthur is riding off to face the enemy army towards the end, man .. i loved that! - i'm scared to say; i would like to see this remade, yet hold all the the same Shakespearean dialogue and scenes; would just like to see the battles and scenery given more scope and gandeur. <trivia> - the directors daughter is the queen, whom he films in that raunchy love scene - ewwWWW !

its a cool film i watched it loads of time's and it's a great classic film i have excaliber in my front room . luv all films like this and this one is a gooden one of the best film ever in my mind great bit o acting from all and even a baby charlie boorman in it to great film 5/5

Everyone knows the story of King Aurthur and the Knights of the Round Table however this movie portrays it in way that added swag to genre fantasy. The movie is a forgotten classic that should be revisited for those who thought they had seen it when they were a kid. I give the movie a 6 / 6

Great fantasy action movie!! A classic movie,, great storyline,, great cast!!! This movie had great special fx for its time.. This is one of my favs,, a must see action fantasy movie for all to enjoy!! Gave this movie 9/10... Enjoy!!
