it was a good movie i expected it to be better althought it was pretty twisted not as gory or disturbing as i expected

One of the most brilliant movies of all time by my favourite current director. The remake is kind of good by default seeing as its almost exactly the same film and by the same director. But this is still the one to watch!

I like this 1997 version better because the killers look approachable and don't appear weird in any way. So it makes it more haunting how they really turn out to be. I also like the family more because they come across as very unsuspecting and non-violent people. They would have to, to be intimidated by 2 teenagers armed only with a golf club and not lift a finger in their own defense. Stark contrast made the movie work. Tim Roth, in the 2006 version does not have an unsuspecting or passive look or manner about him, so it is hard to place him in this role. Naomi Watts is also a strong character and her energy level indicated at any minute she would slap the attacker and only did not because it was not called for in the script. Finally, the attackers in the 2006 version were weird and unlikeable from the beginning. Hard to imagine anyone would even let them in the front door.

Paul and Peter are annoying, dont like this movie 1/5

well its definately disturbing i gave you that... but the plot give you a very unfairness feeling at the end.. wish it had better ending or atleast when someone die they stay dead.. all and all it was ok but not my taste of horror 3/5

Had my stomach tied in knots five minutes into it. Loved the subtlety of language and tone. Haneke is master of realism horror. I BECAME that family and felt their outrage and horror. This really happened.

I was right in that house with that family, and shared their fear. The 4th wall was broken from time to time, adding to the eerieness and surrealism. Kudos to the director. I definitely recommend this movie. 4/5

it was a disturbing film indeed. but not my type of film after a while i just wanted it over with already......6/10
