Lovecraft was one of the best writers to pick up a pen and this is one of the few movies that actually does his work justice

Awesome 80's take on Lovecraft. Jeffery Combs is epic as always playing the deranged genius again. Movies like this stand the test of time in the F/X department. Poignant example of why CG is overused and the bygone days of actual F/X artists are sorely missed.

Fantastic. Loved it. Full of gore etc and taken from a time when horror was truely horrifying as it wasn't reliant on CGI and therefore more firmly seated in fantasy. Through just sheer acting and a lot of fake blood this, for me, has far more realism to it and I found myself spending most of the movie crying "ewww, that's disguisting". Therefore, this gets a 9/10 from me.

A great horror movie from the 80's with Jeffery Combs hamming it up brilliantly as the deranged scientist,a must watch for all horror fans,8/10.

Fantastic film, still hugely under rated. Such a classic. A perfect mix of horror and dark comedy, crazy effects, fantastic characters, weird relationships, weird science and the Combs!!

Mtn. Dew can bring the dead to life!! But seriously..Jefferey Combs is one of the best character actors alive, this movie is a must watch for all horror fans.

Stuart gordon has done quite a few films i liked but i had no idea of the connection with the films and the director. Good movie reccomend.

Good zombie movie!! This is the 1st of the series!! If your a zombie movie lover like me,, this is a must watch!! gave this movie 8/10..Enjoy!!

What makes this unique is that the reanimated are in pain, like Frankenstein's monster. It's like they don't really want to be reanimated and it is torture for them, and confusing. I like it that they have some subjective quality.
