A friend wrote "I would say Brain Dead steals it's title from the brilliant Peter Jackson horror gore comedy of the same name but lift's it's story straight from The Thing (1982) & The Evil Dead (1982) . Kevin Tenny's Brain Dead isn't anywhere near as good as any of them. The script tries to be clever & funny which is fine if you find this moronic playground style humor amusing but I didn't. There are big pacing problems too. The character's are really obvious stereotypes that are poor & feel like they belong in some cheap TV comedy sketch show. Bouncing rubber joke shop brains covered in slime lessen the impact of gore effect. Quite brightly lit & shot Brain Dead isn't scary. All of the female leads get naked at some point or other, Tenney always manages to find a reason. There's an unbelievably tacky shot in which the camera travels up a woman's skirt & a close-up of her vulva is seen & then the black alien slime spurts out of it onto the camera, that about sums up the level of sophistication in Brain Dead & the audience it's aiming for. Brain Dead has one or two decent moments but the pacing is poor & the story is just a rip-off of better films."

@ Malice36 It's in the database for the wrong movie. I reported it so they will probably move it to here sometime. This was a fun movie. Fairly ok fx. It's more comedy than anything else IMO. 4/5

good movie considering the low budget.some comedy mixed in and the fx were pretty good.

version #1 is a newer movie called "BRAIN DEAD" version #2 is the older Peter Jackson movie with the same title. a.k.a. Dead Alive..

was ok mostly comedy by some cheesy actors and a cheesy script its a 1 timer 2.5/5

Nothing compared to Peter Jackson's original Brain Dead - the title of this one only refers to the writers, cast and crew. 0 out of 50-Gazillion-Billion.

Great gory zombie movie, 8/10 Not many will know this but Peter Jackson is actually the Director and Writer for this film, he also plays a cameo role as the undertaker's assistant. Kevin Tenney has nothing to do with this film. Nor Doe's David Crane, The main actor is Timothy Guy Balme. The opening scene of skull island is filmed at Putangirua Pinnacles, the same location he would later use for the Paths of the Dead in the film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
