Who else recognized Glen Tennis from Tim & Eric and "Crystal Ships" as the reporter?

the movie is not bad. one time watch ... better watch SKIN, American History, Romper Stomper etc..

Exceptional Gosling performance but the rethorics of the movie are not that clear to me. A good 9.5/10 for Gosling, overall the movie is worth about 7.5

Once again Ryan Gosling carries a film basically on his own tremendous talent! SPOILER! The scene where he almost lovingly repairs the ripped up Torah is incredible and shows just how alienated he feels END SPOILER! Excellent story with a great supporting cast. Highly recommended along with "American History X"

Gosling is underratted and a phenomenal actor. A favorite of mine. Half Nelson was what he was accredited for but this film overshadows that role. Highly recommended film and opens the mind. Watch This!

Wow... Ryan Gosling was amazing in this. I loved the way that he portrayed the internal struggle of a man who seems to hate his own race of people. Warning, this is not for the faint of heart, if you can keep an objective view of this then you'll really enjoy it. I think this role required a lot more of him then the notebook, so it was good to see what he could do.

I think this was the first movie I saw with Ryan and I knew off the bat this guy was a genius and was going to go far with movies. Now he's one of my favorite actors along with Giovanni Ribisi, Gary Oldman, De Niro and others... good movie but the performance was way better. 4/5

Ryan Gosling is amazing, and I'm pretty sure he's only going to get better with more high profile roles which I hope will eventually lead to an Oscar :-). Enjoy :-)

For Gosling this role was even better than some of the more recent ones(not including Drive or Stay),at 21 he was a real promising star....great movie on religious inner conflicts and intollerances,4/5.

heh, I saw this ages ago before I knew who Ryan Gosling was. This movie is powerful. Unlike "American History X", this film isn't about brutality and the youth corrupting skin-head movement in the U.S. It's about the self-hating Jew, a counter-culture which played a huge part in the Holocaust. This phenomenon isn't exclusive to Judaism, however. There are self-hating blacks, Asians, you name it, even Americans aren't immune to cultural self-hatred. The film is good tho, you should definitely give it a whirl. It is a more intimate, refined film than "American History X" which I found to be a little too Hollywood for my liking. 9/10 Gosling is astonishing.
