I've read the first two books in this and accully is better than the books the movie is because the first book I could not put down until I reached a kiss. :) But the movie is good, but I do not give a preliminary opinion that the books are better. I just can't.. I love these books!

All I have to say about this movie is WOW! This movie is my all time favorite classic movie. I have seen it over 50 times and it is one of those that I could watch again and never get bored with it. My favorite quote from the movies is from Rhett when he says, "frankly my dear I don't give a damn." it is an awesome movie and I would alwayas recommend this movie.

i would rate it higher but that first half is so exhausting that i really just can't overlook it and even though i liked scarlett o'hara at times, she was just too tiring for me as well. the best scenes were the melanie and rhett centered ones but what can i say, i've always been partial to de havilland and gable. it's a great production but not really something i would watch again, especially not in its entirety

Gone with the wind is a really classic evergreen movie of all time, i had found in the classics. A movie very complete in story, dialogues, one's passion of love, innocence and naughty nature + acting by V Leigh, one's love with motherland very good try to represent II WW era..............

Adapted from Margaret Mitchell's best-selling novel of the American South during the years of the Civil War and Reconstruction, Gone with the Wind was a monumental piece of Hollywood film-making in every conceivable respect. Costing $4.25 million (roughly equivalent to $50 million today) and lasting over three and a half hours, the film won ten Oscars, a record that stood until 1959 when Ben-Hur won eleven.

Director Victor Fleming - who was brought in after three weeks by producer David O. Selznick to replace the original director, George Cukor - presided over a number of technical innovations and cinematic firsts on the film. These included staging, for the burning of Atlanta, what was then the largest fire scene ever shot; the use of matte paintings to complete partially constructed sets (only the second use of this technique with Technicolor film); establishing the unknown actress Vivien Leigh who had been cast as Scarlet O'Hara through a talent search (Katherine Hepburn and Paulette Goddard had both been considered for the role) and securing the first Academy Award for a black person (Hattie McDaniel, winning Best Supporting Actress for her role as "Mammy"). Gone with the Wind can be properly considered as the prototype of the Hollywood "blockbuster".
