Watch The One Percent: In this hard-hitting but humorous documentary, director Jamie Johnson takes the exploration of wealth that he began in Born Rich one step further. The One Percent, refers to the tiny percentage of Americans who control nearly half the wealth of the U.S. Johnson's thesis is that this wealth in the hands of so few people is a danger to our very way of life. Johnson captures his story through personal interviews with Robert Reich, Adnan Khashoggi, Bill Gates Sr., and Steve Forbes, during which both Johnson's and his subjects' knowledge and humor shine. And he's not afraid to butt heads with Milton Friedman, the economist who coined the term "the trickledown effect." He also shows how the... |

If anyone can share with me more documentaries that give an insight into the rich I'd really appreciate it.

One of the best in my opinion is America "Freedom to Fascism" which in detail shows how the rich got as rich as they are. From the taking over of the printing of our money in 1913 to 2006 when it was made.

Shotty documentary laced with good intentions. The solution is to get rid of capitalism.. it doesn't work, plain and simple. Either that, or apply limits to how much one can own. I mean, nowadays the problem is, almost everything is a monopoly, seriously. So again, the most effective way of dealing with the problem at hand, and around the world, is to scrap capitalism! It just doesn't work.. when are we going to move on?

I really liked this documentary. It didn't go nearly in depth as others but it does offer the rare opportunity to glimpse at the thought processes and inner workings of the uber rich with an access that most people could not attain (yes, including us lower percent criminals ;D) The documentary doesn't offer any real answers or solutions to the problem of the increasing wealth gap. Instead, I think it ultimately asks the viewer to question the ways in which we can go about fixing our society so that we can improve the quality of life for the ninety-something percent us. It's nice to see that the absolute wealth of Johnson & Johnson hasn't necessarily corrupted absolutely. And just remember, "the world has enough for everybody's needs, but not for one's greed."
