This was a really great movie!! I really enjoyed it. The plot was very good and I liked all the characters. Great costumes and great acting! MUST SEE!

I love it's predecessor, "Dangerous Liaisons," especially with Pfeiffer in the lead, and I love Malkovich, but Colin Firth makes this one the movie to go back to for me, which I do on occasion. A must see: 9/10.

Had this little beauty stocked away for a special evening's viewing. What a spectacular little gem. A young Colin and ever so handsome. Even in this early careet performance the writing was on the wall for his talents. Not only is he delightful so is the entire cast. Not to mention the visual treats that keep on coming, especially the out of doors in the forest. If you enjoy period films this one delivers on all accounts.

I agree with the comments that this film was like a dramatic run-on sentence and yet it still felt like there were major scenes cut from the movie. Dangerous Liasons (this film's predecessor, based off of the same story) was a far superior film, in the end...masterful and thoughtfully orchestrated, rather than slapped together like an improvised bedtime story (like Valmont), with an ending that scrambled to bring some resolution just so the writer could move onto to the next screenplay.
