I never had any intention of watching this move, but after hearing all the buzz about it I decided to check it out, and I'm glad I did. It is very well written, it's not laugh out loud funny but the characters are so likable it'll keep you entertained. Basically a dysfunctional family goes on a road trip to get their youngest daughter into the Little Miss Sunshine pageant.

Little Miss Sunshine is a realistic and funny take on the modern family. With the movie touching on the topics of suicide, divorce, heroin addiction, bankruptcy, vows of silence and beauty pageants, you could only imagine what else the film has to offer.

Little Miss Sunshine is a low budget comedy-drama that first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006. It gained vast recognition with the youth audience and even the older generations. The film has the perfect indie touch to it, making it feel even more realistic to the viewers.

Each actor was perfect for the roles that they played. The placements of the comedic points throughout the movie were enough to make you laugh, but not take away from the situation taking place. You find yourself liking all of the characters, even if at some points they’re not very pleasant.

The film was well written and directed. The distribution rights were bought by Fox Searchlight Pictures for one of the biggest deals in the festival history, proving just how enjoyable the film is to vast audiences.

There’s nothing I can picture that someone would want to change about this film. It’s memorable, clever, funny and quotable, with a positive message. Little Miss Sunshine truly deserved all of the recognition that it’s gained the past five years. You’re left with a perfect ending and a smile on your face.

This is an all time favorite comedy for me; I found the slightly sombre and offbeat humour very entertaining. The dynamic of characters was excellent and each one had their own quirky contribution that made this an incredible film.

Not at all a fast paced, slap stick comedy but more of a dysfunctional family drama with some dry, adult humour that may not be for everyone but certainly delivers a unique experience for the viewer. The thing about this movie that secures a spot on my favorites list is that it really does delve into so many mundane and taboo human issues, while doing it in a wity and almost satirical manner. Using comedy to brighten a darker concept, expose human flaws or even change perspectives this film manages to cover such a broad spectrum of topics while keeping up a steady pace.
