well that was interesting to say the least, I went into this movie after watching the trailer I expected one thing as im sure you all will.
What i got was something completely different, the trailer is very misleading and gives you the feel of a down right action thriller that kicks ass from the word go, unfortunately for you die hard action fans its not.

Going back to the trailer, not sure what the trend is of late to advertise a film in such a way to make the perspective audience believe that its one thing when actually its a whole different animal, either way I think most that have an open mind would be amazed at the finished product, both the cinematography and soundtrack are fantastic, the acting is toned down but with good reason and the scenes of violence are nothing if not extremely realistic! i give the film a solid 8 out of 10 but sadly i dont see this film doing very well at the box office because of how the film is shot and paced, i do however see this film becoming an instant cult classic to be placed up there next to the likes of Donnie Darko, Boondock saints and the Crow.

I liked this movie. The story line was basic, but the action scenes were excellent! This movie is not for the faint of heart. Some of the scenes are very graphic and violent. This movie is a cross between Scarface and Grand Theft Auto. I rate this movie four of five.

I watched this film with no expectations, never saw a trailer nor for once did I read any of the comments before I viewed.

I found it compelling and very engaging, stylistically great, I loved how subtle the relationships were, yet so intense and natural. Ryan Gosling's character really drew me into this story, I found him immensely dark at times. He is obsessed with time and precision naturally, considering his love of cars and speed. Some will complain about the minimal amount of speech from the main character, but I say talking is for girls, I like my men silent and passionate.

The soundtrack was deliciously used with great affect, it took me on a 'drive' of emotions, back to back and left me in a spin and I loved it. Great cinematography, great acting by Ryan Gosling; I am always eager to see what he has to offer, he reminds me of Ethan Hawke another actor I adore; who pick really great projects and both are always surprising me.

Finally, a film that actually made me think, took me to dark places mentally, intensely passionate and dangerous; all those good things. I never usually cringe at violence in films, as I have seen so many, but in this film the violent scenes were very realistic, especially in sound which put me on edge... and the film at 10/10

it was in Competition at the Cannes where it won Best Director. i wish it gets a good Oscar recognition too.

wow what a movie, deserves a Standing Ovation. superb stuff. the moment i heard it got Cannes appreciation and when i saw the Trailer, i exactly knew what to expect and how much to anticipate, i really wanted to see this movie. i saw it today with my excitement at its very peak and guess what? i wasn't disappointed at all. in fact it turned out better than i thought.

ok so people were polarize just because they thought it is gonna be a fast paced Fast and Furious stuff? i mean why is audience so dumb? they knew it won a award at Cannes and was a festival hit then how come they expect it to be a mainstream action flick? didn't they knew about Refn's previous work? they just play innocent just because they can't digest such classic movies. moreover i was angry at the fact that they themselves also misled the audience by releasing it Widely with a trailer that reflected it to be a fast paced thriller. now that is awful, see the results.

but leave all that and lets talk about the movie. now Ryan Gosling is the Driver, he is a Hollywood stuntman. that is not the only job he does but he also uses this skill behind the wheel to moonlight as a getaway man for the criminals. he once meets Irene played by Carey Mulligan. her husband is in Jail and she has a son too. they slowly fall in what looks like a deep love with those deep slow endless stares. now a heist goes wrong kind of makes him the target. this movie rises slowly into something i didn't expected. a memorable movie. i loved it. the ending was well done.

i truly will remember most of the scenes from this movie for the rest of my life. this movie is being done in a very different way. very 80ish retro type. this movie proudly stands out from those many similar themed regular Hollywood movies. and the best thing is that movie looks extremely real it looks very real. there are some surprising bloody graphic violence which thankfully is not overdone at all, the right amount. there aren't much action or Car scenes which is very fine with me because i thought it was a right decision i mean why would you wan't that same old thing from every movie. pretty cool soundtracks. a good score.

cinematography was nice and i liked the cars and other things that were used in the movie. i mean their apartment, the roads the whole mood of the movie it didn't looked LA at all. editing was excellent. a great use of cameras in this movie with some slow motion scenes that adds so much to the beauty of the movie. there were many good scenes like that start one which shows a getaway been done. it was such a fantastic scenes. than the other scene towards the middle which shows a Heist gone wrong, that was when my heart stopped, it was that brilliantly done. this has to be the most Quite Action movie i have ever seen.

there are some quite scenes that just elevates the movie so much. those long awkward stares between Driver and Irene though may seem weird but the have so much emotions and intensity to it, like i literally felt it.

Ryan Gosling did a excellent job. he was the right choice for this role, the perfect one. he has the perfect attitude and behavior. he did a really nice performance. Carey Mulligan though looks really good, beautiful and innocent sweet girl was not quite a good choice for Irene i think but still she was fine in the movie. Albert Brooks impresses you in his scenes very much. Bryan Cranston was good too and so was Ron Perlman. Christina Hendricks wasn't much in the movie. really fine and good performances by everyone but the movie outshines from the supporting cast and their performances while Ryan gives a really quite but strong and dark looks to his character.

i liked the screenplay alot, it was very well written. i can't stop appreciating Refn for a excellent direction. he did a really superb job.

it has a minimum usage of dialogues but you understand and feel everything that happens. like the opening scene has 0 dialogues but you still understand what is happening simply from the character's point of view. this is a modern neo-noir done really well. a near perfect classic that is gonna get that cult status soon, i hope so. it is very stylish movie with a European art house touch. another perfectly done scene was that Elevator scene that you can see in the trailers, it was so good.

this is now one of my all time favorite movie. i really want to see it again. one of the very best movie of the year. currently tops my list. a MUST WATCH.

What a great movie to sit down to and let nothing get in the way. The screenwriter of this film most also be a novel writer. He knows the value of story over action. Words not not be said in order for the viewer to know what's going on. Good driving scenes, good dialogue, but great acting and story-line.

I Expected a little more driving out of a movie with like title "drive". The characters were pretty involving, though some of key characters you get tantalized with brisk back stories.
The music was a little obscure for the type of film it was. The film also felt like it was trying to cash in on a secret pop culture that only the writers were in on.

Overall it isnt a waste of time to watch, but it isnt the "instant classic" that I bet the film company was going for.

I enjoyed watching this movie up until the ending ... I feel like this movie didn't have a real ending its like that part was cut from the film ... also I don't agree with the movies title yes he was a driver but very little of the film actually had to do with driving .. so calling the film drive just doesn't suit it ... I did enjoy watching the film but its not one that I will probably ever bother to watch again ..

this was a terrific film and is very strange it is a one of a kind and has something for most people in this however i had to have the volume rather loud even with headphones on as the talking is very quiet while every thing else is somewhat loud. i give this 8 out of 10 and i would and will be recommending this to friends and family

A wonderful film that restored my faith in Hollywood. Gosling was incredible and I was very shocked and disappointed when he was not honoured with an Oscar nomination for this or any of his other brilliant works from this year (Blue Valentine, Ides of March). This film is packed with action and tension which will leave you by the end on the edge of your seat and all your fingernails chewed off! A must see movie.
