Glad that watched it. The suffering of jews in WW2 is told within the perspective of innocent children. It is quite sad that the roles of sides in WW2 are now completely interchanged.

When Louis Malle was 11 years old these events unfolded and remained forever imprinted on his memory so he made this beautiful film, so whilst the names are changed the story is true. At a French boarding school in 1944, Julien is the top student who is well respected but longs to be home with his mother. One day a new student named Jean arrives who is as fond of good books as Julien but is also an academic rival. Jean has a secret that Julien is keen to find out. 5/5

I think every French schoolboy and schoolgirl have seen this film at least once or twice in primary school. It brings back memory ! And yes, it is a masterpiece.

This is something old and fictitious that doesn't need to be a part of any school viewing. The NAZIS and WWII are things of the past Almost all WWII vets are dead. Let the past die.
