Oz is about a state prison where the inside the prison it is divided between religion and race. The program shows its viewers how corrupt and violent prison life can be.Oz can be slow moving in spots but what happens in this show would make you never want to go to prison.

A series about the lives of the inmmates and workers in the Oswald State Penitentiary ( later called Oswald State Correctional Facility) aka Oz, a prison.

Within the prison, most of the attention is focused on the area known as Emerald City aka 'Em' City. Em City is an experimental unit founded by Tim McManus which places emphasis on the rehabilition and learning efforts on incarcerations.

As the series progresses other areas of the prison is shown more. Life outside the prison is never shown except to show what crimes the inmates have committed.

Oz accurately depicts experiences inmates and prison employees live in almost a documentary feel. As scary as it is to say, there is not much dramatization. One very unique aspect of the series is that it is incredibaly fast-paced, to the extent that if you miss a little you miss alot.
