They did not need to. It was the symbolism of him running out onto the court and you seeing the back of his jersey that let's you know he is going to be ok because he is following in the footsteps of his father.

AS WE SAY GOODBYE TO ONE OF THE GREATEST SHOWS EVER!!! I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT ONE TREE HILL HAS BEEN APART OF MY LIFE FOR 9 YRS. I WILL HONESTLY MISS THIS SHOW BECAUSE IT TRULY HELP TO TRANSITION MY LIFE AND MADE ME GROW INTO A WONDERFUL LADY.

When this show first started I was hooked now not as much.. I think its the fact that Lucas' character isn't there anymore HE MADE THAT SHOW! Its still holding up though I'm surprised to see that it's lasted this long without him & Peyton.. It needs more drama like Seasons 1&2.. I hope they can resurrect it before it's too late :(..

I've been with this show since the very beginning and I have to say, it's been a roller coaster ride of emotions. This episode though has been the most emotional of all, and it's all because of Dan Scott. I could probably watch this show until I'm 80 years old and never tier of it. I prefer the characters as adults to their teenage years, which I never thought would happen. This show will always be a favorite and this episode will probably be my favorite of all. "I told you it gets better." A bittersweet end to Dan Scott. I bawled my eyes out. <3

Haley kicked some serious ass this episode, I loved it. I definitely teared up during the Chuck/Chase scene as well. I hope all good things happen for all the characters in the show!

This show proves that you don't have to toy around with the same story forever just to keep the show going. So much is happening, has happened and I absolutely love it!

This show reminds me what it's like to be young again, all of the trials and tribulations that come with youth. It's a nice distraction, and the nostalgia is strong when I watch it. Pity that this is the last season, but I see this show living on for many years to come as new viewers discover it.
