show is awsome,Warren Leight replaced Neal Baer as showrunner, after Baer moved to CBS Television Studios.[16] NBC executive Robert Greenblatt said the network planned to "reset the tone" of the show but have the storylines "still be compelling but a little more grounded".[17] Filming began in July 2011 and the first three episodes being finished mid-August.[18] Production to resume on the rest of the season after Labor Day (September 5, 2011).[19] Casting director Jonathan Strauss also took on the job of co-producer on the show, his promotion is a rare move in the television industry. Strauss told The Hollywood Reporter; "NBCUniversal and Wolf Films have afforded me this unique opportunity, and in television, a fairly unprecedented one, to serve as both casting director and co-producer on SVU."[20] On August 1, 2011; NBC president, Bob Greenblatt confirmed that Christopher Meloni's character would not be killed off, "I think you should just watch and see," Greenblatt hedged, before adding, "It’s not a big shocking mystery." Greenblatt also addressed questions concerning Mariska Hargitay, whose Benson character is rumored to be taking on more of a supervisory role this season. "That remains to be seen," he said. "That’s something we talked about, and I don’t know if that’s actually where it’s going to go in the latter half of the season yet. But that could happen." Although Hargitay will be in all episodes in this season, Grenblatt commented; "There maybe a day every couple of weeks that she’s not working, but I don’t think you’ll notice [on screen]."[21] Show runner Warren Leight told TVLine; Detective Stabler's (Christopher Meloni) departure will be explained; and there will be fallout, "The reasons for his absence, and the effect it has on the squadroom — and Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) — will be explored in the first several episodes
