Watch Friday Night Lights: In the small town of Dillon, Texas, one night matters: Friday Night. Eric Taylor has recently been hired as the head football coach for the Dillon High School Panthers, the town's pride and joy. Friday Night Lights displays the stress that the town gives the high school players to win, and the hope that the team gives to a small town, and how a team has its low points, its high points, and how they come together as a team on their way to victory.

One of my all time favorites. I think this series lost a lot of viewers because they thought it was only about the sport...WRONG! Give it a chance and you will like it. Probably the BEST series finally ever.

The first season and second are all i've really seen. It kind of got off course for a bit, but the initial message and feeling is something i'll never forget. It really touches your heart.

As a whole I REALLY liked this show......I especially liked where they took the Tim Riggins character to at the end of season 4. On the outside he is a no account screw-up. Underneath he is a loyal friend whose troubles generally trace back to him attempting to help someone out and then shouldering all of the blame, but also being prideful enough to not ever explain, just takes what life throws at him. A great example is when he seems to be going to Mexico to party but is really convincing Street in his special fashion to not have a quack operate on him. He ends up becoming homeless as a result of this. Had he just spilled Street's secret to Coach all would have been forgiven.... However, too many of the football stars from season one were still in school 3 seasons later Matt, Julie, & Landry were the exception and could have been set up as sophomores, but the majority of the players and their girlfriends should have been seniors. This stinks for the show to have to say goodbye to half of last season's cast each year BUT it does open up a lot of story and dramatic possibilities..... I would have liked to see Matt's quarterback style developed a little more in the story-line. When a quarterback starts out his career (even in say the NFL) he relies a lot on his speed and athleticism to get him out of tight spots. As he ages he relies more on reading the field and knowledge so he doesn't get himself into situations where he has to 'scramble'. Jason Street (the wheelchair QB) was set up as the all american star athlete. Matt coming in and taking his place, he didn't have the same ability. However, as an artistic, creative, and smart guy it would have made sense for him to succeed not because he had a great throwing arm but because he could read the field, call interesting plays, make stuff up as he went along. This would have also contrasted wonderfully with the Wonderkid JD whose skills lay in how fast he could run how far he could throw the ball, etc.... The whole Landry murders attempted rapist was a big 'jump the shark' moment. However, having Eric Taylor end up at East Dillon and have to rebuild their team was a great way to reboot the series. Unfortunately you can only reboot this way once....

at the end of the fourth season I caught on to this show-had heard quite a bit about it, but come on right????...agree with what all of the previous posters stated: family, relationships, honor, commitment, perseverance, etc...all define what this show was all about...I've watched the entire series twice and, have to say, as a 45 year old male-I cry too much LOL :)...great family show and many lessons to be learned and explained to the youth :)...too many chars to list as a fave, but Landry, Riggins, Matt, really stand out to me (besides Y'all Tami and Coach of course)...too much to say, too little area to explain-just go for it and enjoy :)

I watched this originally on TV (ITV 4 I think) and nearly turned over as wasn't sure whether it was a doco or fiction but I kept putting it off until, suddenly, it was the end of the season !!! HOW DID I GET HOOKED ??? The use of just 3 cameras is inspirational and (after reading up on Wiki) the fact that the actors are given the freedom to ad lib around basic script lines just gives it a fresh and more natural feel. Kudos to the whole "team" and I will miss them now that I have finally watched the whole series. 9.5/10

No other show had me in tears as much as Friday Night Lights. I've just sat and watched seasons 3-5 back to back and what I would like to say to anyone who has put off watching this show is that if like me you don't like/know anything about American Football it doesn't matter. And don't let the hand held camera work put you off either, you get used to it. It took me a while to get used to it myself and I still dislike American Football but this show is worth a watch to anyone who loves television.

wasnt really n2 this show @ 1st, but its turned out 2 be very good...in my opinion...wish the writers had thought enough ahead to be able to continue past just 4 seasons that have gotten progressivly shorter as the seasons have climbed tho, but it happens...alot actually.

I like Buddy. But, he took a mouthful of Stupid Pills at the start of this episode. A blind and deaf man could see those boys were going to be nothing but trouble from minute one.
