REVENGE IS ABOUT A YOUNG LADY AMANDA CLARK WHO LOST BOTH HER PARENTS AS A CHILD, HOWEVER AMANDA SEEMS TO BE OVER HER MOM DEATH BUT ITS HER FATHER DEATH THAT SHE CANT LET GO BECAUSE HE WAS FRAMED WHICH CAUSE AMANDA TO HAVE A VERY TOUGH CHILDHOOD BEING IN AND OUT OF FOSTERS CARE TO YOUNG JUVENILE CENTERS. ON THE DAY OF HER RELEASE FROM JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER A YOUNG MAN NAME NOLAN APPROACHES HER WITH A BOX OF THINGS HER DAD LEAVE FOR HER, IN THIS BOX AMANDA FATHER EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO HER ABOUT THE PEOPLE THEM THAT FRAMED HIM AND ASK ONLY FOR HIS DAUGHTER AMANDA TO FORGIVE THEM. HOWEVER AMANDA HAVE OTHER PLANS FOR THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR HER FATHER`S DEATH. SHE MOVE INTO THE COMMUNITY UNDER THE NAME EMILY THORN AND MANIPULATE ALL WHO IS RESPONSIBLE ONE BY ONE WHICH LEADS TO MURDER, BANKRUPTCY AND BETRAYAL. MS THORN PLAYS NO GAME, SHES ALL ABOUT REVENGE.

ABC hunt for a new soap that can fill the huge void that Desperate Housewives, now in its final season, will undoubtedly leave behind. If we judge by the massive promotion channel has done for Revenge before the serie, it is clear that they have hopes. In my view, meet the series does not fully, yet something about the serie that makes me curious about the sequel. Clearly a potential guilty pleasure series.

The creators behind the serie Mike Kelley states Alexandre Dumas's classic "The Count of Monte Cristo" as inspiration for the series. For Revenge is, as the title so clearly points out, to make up for it in the most devastating way.

The series' narrator is Emily Thorne played by Emily VanCamp (Brothers and Sisters, Everwood). The story begins "in medias res" with a murder on the beach in the Hamptons. Close by are beautiful people gathered to celebrate his engagement to Emily rich man's son, Daniel Grayson, who happens to be disappeared.

We then take about 5 months back in time and start the journey towards this murder at the moment. Whether this is part of vengeance Emily wants to accomplish, or an unfortunate consequence of it, does not appear.

Emily has just arrived in the Hamptons. She is rich, young and beautiful and rent a beach house close to the "palace" to the city's uncrowned queen, Victoria Grayson. Through several flashbacks, we are made aware that Emily is not at all so new that she has it. In fact, she spent time there as a child with his father (played by James Tupper), but happy childhood memories are destroyed by the nightmare that unfolded when her father was imprisoned and sentenced for a crime he did not commit.

Emily has created a new identity and is back with a goal in mind: revenge on all who were instrumental in the imprisonment of his father and the destruction of her childhood.


Revenge (s) is sweet

As always, when a series is set in glamorous settings rich man, so shall it be done well to find a single character that is not beautiful, sophisticated and / or handsome. Revenge is no exception. If revenge is sweet in the end is too early to tell, but the avenger is at least. Emily VanCamp looks incredibly good in whatever she's doing, and thus can grade her to slip right into Sossen from the first second. VanCamp, however, not as steady in the portrayal of the vengeful Emily. She is our woman on the inside and it is planned that we should be rooting for her. After three episodes as the character of which has captivated me the most Victor Grayson in Madelaine Stowe's character. She is cold, and wonderful derogatory and steals every scene she's in. It's almost as I cheer at her sometimes and I think probably this is the meaning.


VanCamp, however, seems a little flat - she is smiling and sweet on the outside and cold, almost robotic-like on the inside. I miss a more three-dimensional role interpretation. A person looking for vengeance will probably be driven by an immersive and emotional desire to succeed. Maybe balanced with guilt for some of their actions. Emily has so far not convinced me in any direction. VanCamp has a lot going on, but I know she can. She has delivered good performances in the past.

The other characters deliver on its uniform. No one stands out in particular in one or the other direction, beyond Madeleine Stowe. I would like to see the show's outcast, tech millionaire Ross Nolan (Gabriel Mann), who is currently the only one who sees through Emily who is and is actually willing to help her, had been given leeway to be even more weird and eccentric. He constantly referred to as an oddball, but I think frankly what we have seen of him until now has not made him deserving of such a reputation.


Unnecessary elements stupidity

Revenge wins no prices for the originality and revolutionizing the genre is not in any kind of way. Yet it is a breath of fresh air from the many police procedural series, medical dramas and series ladies and family secrets. The premise is actually not a bad idea, but three episodes into the series has not blossomed fully. However, the breeding ground is there, so to speak.

There are some items that I hope the series will get rid of, and which in my view is to dumb it down. One of these is voice-over in the early episodes. Emily VanCamp is no charismatic voice-actor and much of what is said is pure empty phrases, and when they delivered so make flat, so it becomes very obvious how they really are.

"Two wrongs can never make a right, Because two wrongs can never equal: Each other."

It seems to me that this is part of the ABC pattern. They use voice-overs at the start of episodes of the Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. In Revenge, this was just stupid.

Another thing is the unnecessary "explanations" of how Emily wonder their victims. It has so far been no OMG-twister that requires viewers to be served a step by step reconstruction. This is wasting airtime and we are more than smart enough to understand the context.

It is also currently a very stereotyped distinction between rich and "poor", where the working class, represented here by his childhood friend Jack (Nick Wecshler, Roswell) and his family are good, honest and hardworking, while the rich are cheating, doing dirty tricks and conspiracies. Honestly, the world is not as A4. Why can not we shake a little on this once in a while?

Process revenge soap

After three episodes, it seems as if Revenge is a soap-like procedural drama of revenge, which, instead of seeing a police matter be resolved in one episode will see how Emily destroys the life of a person who was involved in his father's wrongful imprisonment. For my part I must admit I prefer the long build-up of progress, setbacks and obstacles on the road rather than the series where the matter cleared up within 42 minutes. I also fear that the series could easily become too predictable if they continue this race. Emily is indeed a picture with many people as she crosses out every time she takes her revenge, but the size is not shown that it can drive the story for several seasons to come.


Guilty pleasure victories

Despite a handful of annoying elements and incomplete grades, there is something indefinable about this series that makes me let me get involved. I have taken in almost look forward to the upcoming episode, and without that there has been no cliffhanger or loose threads that I've been looking forward to more ball in. I assume therefore that it is just something glamorous settings, the contours of a revenge-like mystery and characters with some potential, which makes me far at least, has Revenge on my list of shows I watch fixed. It's not that many of the new series has established itself there yet.

For me this is a typical guilty pleasure series that must be categorized as a soap drama. Everything is possible for most things can happen. And I really hope it does.

This is hardly the series that captivates the male audience as much as us girls. ABC must be said to hit better in women in general. If we look at the channel's send the form as we find series like Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Private Practice, Cougar Town, Castle et al The efforts they have made in recent years to please more broadly have not gone as well. I mention series such as Flash Forward, Detroit 1-8-7. The Whole Truth, Life on Mars (U.S.) all of which were canceled in its first season.


More bubbles, thanks

If Revenge wants to please the same audience that in recent years has faithfully followed the life and the chaos of Wisteria Lane, then Revenge dare to thaw and play even more with revenge concept. Now the series is a little too seriously, while it lacks a hard and smart revenge plot and mystery in the base which justifies the seriousness creators have given it so far.

Revenge should embrace the genre and become even soapier. We should not forget the success criteria as the Dallas, Dynasty and power struggles at Falcon Crest, which undoubtedly was the soap drama and who also had revenge as a fundamental element of dramaturgy. They dared to be a little more "over the top". I do not mean that Revenge needs stretching the elastic as far, but a little more colour on the characters damage is unlikely series.

And if nothing else, have at least Revenge established a fresh, new approach to female vengeance that do not involve outright Catfights as we saw in Dynasty (anyone remember when Alexis and Crystal smoke at loggerheads?) Or directly evil as we see in Gossip Girl.


Conclusion

Revenge is a series that puts itself in the middle of three of this year's new series. It is not in the star class - it is a little too flat, but fortunately placed from the "cringe-worthy" such as The Playboy Club was for me.

The layout of destroying the life of a new person every week can quickly become exhausted and I hope the series will be smarter after a while. Hatches away the voice-overs and the unnecessary clarification scenes and gives the characters a little more leeway and playfulness in all, this can be quite enjoyable.

This is a series that I think inspire women to a greater extent than men. The main character is far too indefinite and robot-like that I can sympathize fully with her desire for revenge, but it's still one or another of the series that I do not quite manage to put my finger on, that makes me that I have let myself be lured into The Hamptons for three weeks in a row now and guaranteed returns.
