My cousins new wife puts her 5 year old in these sort of things. I personally think its messed up. I little 5 year old cousin looks older than me when she puts all that makeup on and im in my 20's! I will never put my daughter in such things. its sicking.

I can and never will understand this crap! I have both a 6 and 9 yr. old girl...there is no way in this universe that I would subject my daughters to looking like made-up grown women for a stupid crown. Some parents need to stop trying to live through their kids and let the kids be kids!

This was the most disgusting pageant i have ever watched. First the chick does need to get her teeth fixed. She need's to learn that winning isn't everything and needs to teach her daughter that it isn't either. She need's to teach her that her additude is ugly and that in the end is what will bring her down!!! like she said she won over a hundred kid's. hahahaha....not 200 or 300 or etc... just 100 babies, toddlers, etc... she just wanted to make sure that she won against the other girl that clearly deserved it cause she was on time to all of the competition's and she wasn't!!! I have to say that i thought paisley should have won beauty cause she's prettier than Isabella. And by the way Isabella's mom should feel like a idiot b'cas she acted like her daughter won the grand supreme over paisley and she didn't. Plus Isabella's mom should see a surgeon and get that eye fixed. creepy!!!! Shyanne was gorgeous and she really would have also deserved to be grand supreme winner. I dont think that Mackenzie is that cute either. The only reason she is famous is b'cas of the stupid stuff she say's. Hailey is beautiful and i can see her in the future being a model or either Miss America. She wasn't self centered and she didn't act like she was the prettiest thing that God ever made but she is close to be it. Brooke was also beautiful and she like Hailey don't realize how beautiful they really are. Those children that are following Mackenzie around like puppies are gonna ask themselves one day why they did!!!!! JS..:)

I agree with several of these comments... First i would have been worried more about if my child had been snatched up than being late for competition time.. and the gum smacking was very annoying.. I think the mom with the little girl with the huge personality was cute because of her personality but she need's to watch what she's feeding her child more. I know that when she said that she wanted her to show her belly it was b'cas of her dress, so that they could see all of the stud and bead work on it not showing her naked belly. But i hope that ALL these PARENTS children are in the pageant's b'cas they want to be and it's not b'cas the parent want's them to be.. Don't live your dream's through your children..

OK so I know people probably wont like what i have to say but here goes.. although you are correct with regards to some parents who force their kids to do pageants, I definitely don't agree with that or trying to live through your child.. however there are children who want to do these pageants.. and for them the parents who push and support and are dedicated to supporting their children in the things they want to do in life are the good parents.. these girls go on to be Miss USA and do a lot of good things for charity. its also a way to become involved in a career in entertainment, and that is something we all enjoy universally. You would push your child and get up at 6am to take them to hockey practice, or ballet practice or anything like that.. if you were a good parent you would.. so for the children who love being in pageants, the good parents, get up early, pay thousands of dollars for gowns, and so on. there is good and bad in everything, be sure to look carefully with less judgement, and make sure your seeing everything for what it is!

It's amazing the things we justify and find acceptable these days. Make-up on a child at home playing dress up, there's nothing wrong with that, but to then have it done professionally, and put them on display for judgement and calling it entertainment? Makes me wonder about the people who are entertained by this. Barely out of the womb and sold off into the slavery of 'beauty and competition' this is the 21st century!!! I thought we were meant to be going forward not backwards. But of course, it's okay it's fine, because they are having 'fun' and 'learning valuable lessons' and 'getting paid' right? So what's the problem with strengthening the notion that females are only worthwhile as playthings or dolls? I say at least give them a chance to grow up and make their own choices and mistakes. Shame on you consenting parents.

I won't let my daughter participate in pageants. Childhood is supposed to be fun, carefree, and innocent. I don't want my daughter growing up thinking that beauty is everything. Eating disorders, plastic surgery after they become consumed. It's in the mind, that is what makes a beautiful girl, teen, woman. And some would probably come back with,"I bet her and her daughter is ugly." We are both gorgeous :)
