I wish these shows would do follow ups on the peoples cases. I'd love to see that she kept her home clean and was getting the proper treatment still. We are only given just a few months of updates at most....

I really liked the son in this episode. He had an elegant way with words. I don't blame him for totally detaching.

Uh...I know of other real hoarders,and yes,they do let things go very badly,sometimes.Plus,I had estranged relatives who "hoarded"and believe me,the other part of the family had to come in,and force them to throw all the junk out.They "hoarded"EVERYTHING.Hoarders do not necessarily hoard valuable or real stuff;these hoarded every newspaper,scrap of paper,junk,everything you would throw away,they kept it.It did not matter what it was,they kept it.Yes,they often get very "unclean".Yes,hoarders do keep garbage.They cannot let go of ANYTHING. It's a very bad underlying mental illness.When this relative was forced to let the others come in,and throw all the stuff out,clean the whole place up,she got ANGRY,and accused them of stealing their stuff.She tried to stop them from throwing it all out,and cleaning it up. I know all that bad stuff sound like NO ONE would hoard it;it depends on how bad the person has the illness.The illness makes them unable,or unwilling,to let go of ANYTHING. yeah,it can really be that bad.That mother and daughter who were related to Jacqueline Kennedy,they kept cats,and even dead cats,and garbage,so badly in their house,all the neighbors could smell it!!They were really SICK. You're right,there are also hoarders who just collect one or two,or a few types of things,and that's all.I knew one in San Francisco,a waitress,who only hoarded clothes,dresses.She had several huge closets.But she even hoarded new dresses that were NOT IN HER SIZE.Promising herself,she would wear them some day;she never did.She had to go into therapy,to finally get rid of them all.

Watching this nearly broke my heart. Poor woman. I hope she'll be OK now.
