The Gates - 1 year, 9 months ago
Finally, after eight episodes, things are getting interesting on The Gates – a show that has sucked badly – to put it bluntly – since its debut earlier this summer. More of the vampire mythology is explained, as well as the werewolf mythology. By far and away, this is the best episode of The Gates. However, that’s not saying this is a good series – let’s get that straight now. Alpha werewolf Simon Ford (Louis Herthum), a real surly, belligerent individual, is beaten and left for dead on his front lawn. It’s either another werewolf who is challenging Simon for the mantle of the alpha male werewolf or a vampire (especially since Simon has an altercation with a vampire at the start of this episode at the country club). Since no wolf has claimed it, the wolfpack suspects it’s a vampire that’ll break the uneasy truce between the two tribes of supernatural beings… a truce that has banned bloodshed between both parties for a decade. Police Chief Nick Monohan (Frank Grillo) is really getting an education as top cop of The Gates. First, he learns there’s vampires living amongst him and his family, now he learns there’s werewolves. To his credit, he’s handling it well. When he finds out it’s Lucas (James Preston), who savagely beat his old man because he was tired of the old coot abusing him and his mom, Nick covers up. Why? Because he felt Lucas was standing up for himself and doesn’t want him to be challenged by other werewolves. Coach Ross (Roger Cross) is a beta werewolf and says that he’ll claim he brutalized Simon for role of alpha – something that is his right as beta – in order to prevent a turf war between vampires and werewolves. Speaking of vampires, it’s revealed that Dylan (Luke Mably) turned Clair (Rhona Mitra) into a vampire, and there is a bond between the two. However, Christian (Paul Blackthorne) believes Clair and him should be together and tries to break the bond between her and Dylan. He doesn’t like Clair as a domesticated vampire and wants to turn her back to her old ways. Dylan finds out about this and fries Christian in the sunlight. Wow! Way to go, Dylan. The third plot tonight focuses on Andi (Skyler Samuels) who is still moping over the fact she found out she’s a succubus. She breaks up with Charlie (Travis Caldwell), a human and Nick’s son, after a kiss makes him faint in the last episode and hooks back up with Brett (Colton Haynes), a werewolf. This subplot is becoming a yawn-fest. This needs to be resolved soon. It was the only thing on tonight’s episode that slowed down the momentum. Simon reappears in Nick’s backyard and informs him that he’s leaving The Gates. He advises Nick not to trust vampires. In classic Fox Mulder fashion, Nick responds that he trusts no one. Simon asks him to deliver a message to Lucas: he’s proud of him. He also tells him that Frank Buckley (Brett Cullen), the power-player of The Gates, is stupid to believe vampires can live peacefully with werewolves. The day is coming when both factions’ll prove him wrong and nobody will be safe. Sounds ominous. It’s too bad it took so long to get to this point. Let’s hope the remaining episodes are as good as this one, but the odds haven’t been in this show’s favor.
Shrek Forever After - 1 year, 12 months ago
Not bad. Certainly funny. Brought back some of he spark and better story line from the last 1 or 2 which wasn't that good. Puss/Cat was a riot. Kinda got back to some of the more developed humor that appealed more to adults. But was acceptable for children. It was nice to see a refreshing of some of the enjoyable characters but too little of G-man(would of liked to see more of him). well times music score. It is better than ok but not super great. The movie kinda saved the series because 3 was awful and 2 wasn't that great either.

In general very good movie. Adequate stroy line and good acting. Lots of action and some nice humour i.e. Alfred Molina. Certain scenarios were a little off or a bit confusing. But, I guess they are to be implied. Like the sudden switch at times with certain relationships. Overall very enjoyable but not a movie that would stick with you a few hours after watching it.
Robin Hood - 2 years ago
Overall rather somewhat dissapointing but ok if you have an extra 2 hours. It lacked a real spark (very little chemistry). You could see the makers were setting themselves up for a sequel. Now dispite Robin Hood being ficticous. The events played out were actually factually based. With that being said the movie really reaked havoc on historical events. King Richard died in 1199 but the battle they fought with the invading French possibly called the Dover was real but it was fought in or around 1216 which is 17 years later not a few weeks/days as the movie portrays secondly the Magna Carter was first issued in 1215. 16 years after Richard's death. John did ultim. refuse it because of artcle 61-which led to the Baron's wars. But their is no reference to Isaac or Ivanhoe.
