The star studded cast and excellent storyline set and hold just the right pace for this crime thriller. Matthew McConaughey seems right at home in the courtroom and Samuel L. Jackson's protrayal of the accused is believable and evokes sympathy. The supporting characters play their roles as well as the stars play theirs, and with both Sutherlands starring in this movie you can't go wrong by watching! An excellent movie. An all star cast & an excellent storyline keep the pace and the laughs going from start to finish. Tim Allen is hilarious in his role as a has-been sci/fi star called to action by real aliens in a real galactic battle. The supporting cast shine in their roles as fellow has-beens, and the aliens are incredibly well played and funny, funny, funny. This movie will not disappoint! From the first action packed few minutes your attention is held by the strong storyline and the amazing special effects. The actors chosen to play the young Enterprise crew were perfect. They have the characters down pat, and there are enough references drawn from the past to make them totally believable in their roles. This is the best of the original movies. It is the fist time that a conscious effort was put into adding humor to these movies, and it is wonderful to see Spock playing straightman to Kirk's comedic efforts. This movie signaled a change in all Star Trek movies that followed. The camaradarie of the three main characters: Kirk, Spock and McCoy is showcased much better with the addition of humor and can be pursued much farther. I found this movie most disappointing. The witty, playful banter is not there without Rachel Weisz and the storyline is not the greatest this time around. While Jet Li is wonderful in his role he is not Arnold Vosloo the mummy we love to hate. While Arnold Vosloo plays the mummy just as well as in the first movie, and Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser are just as witty and playful, this movie is not quite as good as the first. The special effects are again wonderful, but some of the plot twists were too coincidental. Still a great watch and very entertaining, but isn't quite up there with the first. Arnold Vosloo and the special effects imject just the right amount of horror as the mummy, but it is the witty banter between the characters played by Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser that put this movie over the top and into greatness. Treat Williams plays his tough guy role amazingly well in this fast paced sci/fi thriller pitting men against underwater beasts. Wes Studi & his band of mercenaries offset the comedic relief of the other actors providing just the right amount of humor amidst the chaos and carnage. The excellent acting and storyline twists keep this movie moving at a fast pace throughout. Edward Norton is excellent in his role as a conflicted detective who is torn between bringing the truth to light, or letting it be buried to save family members. Jeff Bridges gives a stellar performance as a man who suspects his neighbors of being terrorists. Joan Cusack and Tim Robbins play their roles as the neighbors with just the right amount of creepiness to keep up the suspense. Excellent acting and a fast pace make this a must see! Ford gives one of his finest performances as the bladerunner assigned to track 4 escaped replicants. Edward James Olmos supporting character is appropriately creepy & Rutger Hauer couldn't have done a better job as the leader of the replicants. The idea of a kid learning he's a demi-god has such possibilities, & the special effects were pretty good, but the story seemed to fall flat in places. While the acting was very good, & the story line captivating, it still seemed to be missing that certain something that would put it over the edge into greatness. Mel Gibson displays the excellent acting ability we have come to expect from him, & the supporting characters play their parts to perfection. As a parent who has lost a child, I could completely identify with his need to provide justice for his child, & the pace of the story was great! Join the site, its free!
