Good twists. Good bad guys. Good bad girls. Good music. Madsen as always good bad guy. not sure what the title has to do with the story. good action. there ain't a lot of dead space in this. pretty good story funny in a few places but mostly just bad people getting what comes around. would like to have seen more blood but that's me this I couldn't tell where it took place there's all different kind of people in it. if you like some mindless butt kickn then check it out and the girls are good looking movie's not for everyone it's pretty violent. definitely not kids. .
No Good Deed - 1 year, 2 months ago
"No Good Deed" is a way-above-average character driven thriller. The fact that it is based on short story by Dashiell Hammett puts in a class above the rest with a story-line that is frighteningly plausible. Boasting a stellar cast including Samuel L Jackson, Stellan Skasgaard and Milla Jovovich it is highly suspenseful with a cracking script. Stellan Skasgaard delivers his lines with relish and Milla Jovovich is highly believable in her role as a woman who plays all the men against each other. Grace Zabriskie and Joss Ackland steal the show, however, with their portrayals of a thief-couple in their twilight years. All, in all, highly recommended for a nights entertainment for those who like their thrillers a little more cerebral than the norm.
Elvira, Mistress of the Dark - 1 year, 2 months ago
I think this film had the potential to be a over-the-top My Cousin Vinny. But with a horror host instead of a lawyer. Sadly it's a wasted opportunity. With just a bit more writing it could be a classic. The kids are underused there's no reason why they should latch on to Elvira. Apart from the obvious reasons. It would have been great to see their relationship flourish. I know it's a comedy but it's little differences that separate the good films from the brilliant. Elvira herself is always fun and engaging. Not to mention flirty. Every time she smiles you will too. It's hard to knock a film when the main character is so charming. And it really is her charm, don't let her looks fool you into thinking that she's some sort of tart. Well she is. But she's a nice one. The sort of person you'd let look after your kids. Wouldn't let her cook for them, though...
Deadly Skies - 1 year, 2 months ago
It's a stock sci-fi thriller whose hero and his friend/sidekick happen to be lovers. This fact is brought out in two bedroom scenes and is mentioned very briefly in a couple of other lines of dialog. But other than these brief, isolated moments it is never mentioned, never referred to, and it has absolutely no bearing whatever on the story as our hero battles to save the world from destruction. A standard subplot in this kind of action film is a romantic triangle of some sort, but these two lovers are in league with an extremely attractive computer jock and they never even notice him. Someday there may come a time when an action hero can be gay just because he is and it would not have any impact on the story, but we're not there yet. I'd bet good money that this movie was originally made as a standard thriller, that none of the cable services bought it, and that turning the hero gay was an afterthought accomplished by an additional day or two of shooting new footage in order to open up the gay cable network market. Whether or not the hero is in love with his buddy, the film is a decent low-budget thriller. You can see worse on the Sci-Fi Network any night of the week. Michael Moriarity is clearly having great fun as the scenery-chewing military villain and the gay moments give the producers a chance to get Antonio Sabato naked, which is never a bad thing.
The Grift - 1 year, 2 months ago
This film is about a family of crooks who own a house somewhere outside a small town in the post-WWII United States. They have developed numerous ways to swindle money and goods out of various strangers who happen to stop by their house which looks like a regular country-side family motel. Be sure, they're real masters of this dangerous but profitable business. However, some serious misunderstandings and suspicions grow up between the family members, and here comes the final game with a nice twist at the end. The actors really didn't have much to work with here, the plot hangs together like loose sand. If there would have been some interesting characters and dialogue or events you could maybe get over the fact that its just people getting conned for most of the movie rather than there being a good story or. Sadly, this is not the case. As a result none of the actors were able to ever rise above the level of stereotypes. So in short not a bad idea for a movie, but it lacks too much of anything that can make a movie good. I definitely do not recommend it. Go watch the Sting if you're in the mood for this theme.
Snatch - 1 year, 2 months ago
The story starts off with Franky Four Fingers stealing one of the biggest diamonds i have ever seen. It leads to the intertwined and ironic lives of Turkish & Tommy; Sol, Vincent and Tyrone; Brick Top; Doug 'The Head' & Franky; Boris as well as Mickey & his gang of gypsies. The characters are linked in a witty farce satirical triangle. For instance Mickey > Turkish > Brick Top. The movie also plays out a series of unfortunate events that seem to plague the characters making this show astoundingly entertainment and humorous. Be warned. The slapstick humor will catch you when you least expect it and before you know it you will not be able to control your laughter. A personal note : you will absolutely love how the show ends! The plot is brilliant and throws you in lots of directions that makes you want to watch the film to see what happens next. Watch this film, you will love it.

This film was crazy because it wanted to be. It did such a great job with everything. Superb acting, a great soundtrack and wonderful story-line. I really loved this film. Alan Rickman, Bill Pullman, Mary Steenburgen, Danny DeVito, Eliza Dushku, Bryan Greenberg, and Shawn Hatosy all gave great performances. I wasn't really expecting what I got, which was really great. This has been the best movie I've seen, so far, this holiday season. I'd like to see more movies like this from Randall Miller, the director, and more Randall Miller and Jody Savin writing collaborations. The twists and turns of the plot really made this movie stand out. The twists weren't the usual cop out twists which really irritate me as a patron. There are so many great scenes and many great lines which sometimes made me laugh and sometimes made me just say wow, this is a great film.
The Last Hit Man - 1 year, 2 months ago
I enjoyed most of the movie. What I do, but at the same time, do not understand is why the family let "you know who" into their family. I suppose Mantegna could have handled the situation differently, perhaps holding "you know who" hostage. This struck me as odd. But, again, it is a movie. Do not expect anything great. The actors play their roles well, especially Joe Mantegna. There are some "so-so" acting scenes but overall, a job well done. It is the plot that will keep the viewer interested through out the entire movie, not the acting. But like I said, the acting is definitely worth the viewers time. Of course, we have all seen horrible movies that make it to the theaters on a national scale, but, this movie, by no means is horrible. It keeps the viewer guessing, and with a sufficient amount of action, there really is no reason to bash this title!
Nothing But the Truth - 1 year, 2 months ago
I was really amazed by Kate Beckinsale's acting performance, quit good scenario, good screenplay, good movie directing... When it comes to rights of "free word" Government wouldn't give a single nickle if it may affect them negatively . If there truthfully would have been a lack in CIA and media have got secret documents than it means that American government can't control their own central intelligent agency... Judging journalist's right's to keep their source in secret is something out of words. what national security ??? National security is above human rights? "Free Words" rights? It just shows that big people use to see small people everywhere... This movie was remarkable, i liked the ending it was really dramatic and ironic...
The Lost Samaritan - 1 year, 2 months ago
This flick tells the Story of a clerk by the name of William Archer, who works hard at his job as an accountant and gets very little in return. Although this movie is about this person, who has the most unusual day of his life, the most interesting characters are the two killers that are after him. Both of them are portrayed in a very unique and humane way. The usual movie killer is portrayed as very cold and perfectionist but not these two guys, but they are also no idiots. It find it very difficult to describe them without spoiling the story for you. I can only recommend that you watch this flick and make your own opinion.
The Oxford Murders - 1 year, 2 months ago
This film is about a mathematics professor and a graduate student trying to solve murders that are connected by a mysterious code series. "The Oxford Murders" spends too much time elaborating and dragging on the relationships between Martin, Arthur Seldom, Beth and Lorna. It gives me the impression that the filmmakers ran out of ideas on riddles and puzzles, hence made up a series of love and jealousy scenes to fill up the screen time. As a result, the first 70 minutes of the film mistakenly focuses on the poorly built love entanglements, which is rather plain and boring. The next 20 minutes starts to be interesting as the riddle is full on, but it is too hard to follow. Only the ending twist captivated me, but that lasts for 5 minutes only. If the riddles can be more evenly spaced and better presented, "The Oxford Murders" could have been a great mystery film. It could have been captivating as a simplified version of "Da Vinci Code".
Subway - 1 year, 2 months ago
When I first saw this movie I was magnetized by its unique atmosphere. Luc Besson created amazing out-of-genre movie. "Subway" inherits traditions of european films of the 70-ies and has something new and magnetic at the same time; and it is certainly Besson's most european film. Maybe it is the reason of it's not so high ratings by american critique. Strange, but Lambert's early and best roles in "Subway" and Marco Ferreri's "I love you" are crossed out by his later films. Talking about "Subway", this movie stands in a row of other films of the middle and the end of the 80-ies that were last before the sunset of European cinematograph and the wind of pan-American influence. And although many American movies are real masterpieces, two traditions can't be mixed. This is one of those cult films that create amazing style that can't be repeated. And although I find "Leon", "Nikita" and "5th element" really good movies, they all were commercial projects. And "Subway"... well, who saw it, they will understand. And maybe not. 10 out of 10.
The Square - 1 year, 2 months ago
The fact that I lasted all the way through is quite exceptional for an Australian film - so it is good enough to watch and a good first time effort. I was surprised by the quality of the acting but felt it hard to sit through as its not quite an enjoyable experience - the cinematography was dark, muddled and grainy with unlikable characters and you have a sense of what is going to happen in the end so its really no surprise when it does happen. But the film does have the element of surprise of pulling u into this thriller and you really want to keep watching to see what unfolds. It would however benefited with a happy ending to counter the depressiveness of the film.... or even a few funny moments. With a depressing film and depressing ending you think why did i watch this? I thought bud tingwell in the end was also very good!!
Passengers - 1 year, 2 months ago
On the surface PASSENGERS is the story about airplane crash following which the airline hires a psychologist Dr Claire Summers (Anne Hathaway) to hold group therapy sessions for those PTSD survivors. The group is strange, not so much for the crash but more for the lives they've lived leading up to the crash - or so Claire believes. Claire is particularly drawn to Eric (Patrick Wilson) who seems somehow above the emotional trauma and indeed begins to 'court' Claire with requests for house calls, incidents that lead to a romance. Gradually the survivors in Claire's therapy group disappear and Claire is made suspicious of the cause of the accident, a fact that disturbs the airline person Arkin (David Morse). Eric's strange behavior as well as the appearance of the odd character Toni (Dianne Wiest) and the counsel from Claire's colleague Perry (Andre Braugher) begin to unravel a mystery that is finally made clear in the closing moments of the film. To say more would be to spoil the ending. PASSENGERS is not a great movie but it is a fairly good and well-acted suspense/romance drama. The cast is solid but the direction by Rodrigo García of the Swiss cheese script by Ronnie Christensen is shaky: the premise is good but the getting there is full of potholes and road kill. Nevertheless it is a good little diversion of a film for a rainy night. And the actors do their very best to make it better than it is. The pleasure comes after the ending is revealed and sets up the audience for some serious introspection.
Perfect Hideout - 1 year, 2 months ago
Billy Zane must really be feeling the pinch if he has to take movies like this! I can't remember that last time I saw acting this bad. Zane, himself was not too bad BUT the other two, and especially "Nick" was appalling. Its not an original plot, and there was an opportunity here to make an exciting film.....but failed! Initially, I had no idea of the country this was supposed to be set in....mainly because the actors accents were all over the place. The police, or whoever they were meant to be came across as a mercenary outfit led by an American. It was all too "make believe", completely ruined by atrocious acting. If you have nothing better to watch, then be advised......this will disappoint.
Silence Becomes You - 1 year, 2 months ago
In my opinion, every movie that can make me fell interested till the ending credit in a good movie. This movie did . Just like many films that some time have plot less scripts (this film's not) can put ending in everywhere but keep inside great emotion , have talented idea in prohibiting the theme (maybe very ordinary), show responsibility and thoughts in cinematography and soundtrack. Silence Become You is dark, is Gothic , is fantasy, is surreal and touching , truly romantic and sometime disturbing a little . Although its story is very simple but it isn't dumb. It's a gem with beautiful set (Victorian interior with color scheme look like oil painting ), high quality pictures and awesome soundtrack . I won't say that this film's perfect but it's a completely worth seeing movie and being underrated.
Traitor - 1 year, 2 months ago
Don Cheadle has come a long way from the days he acted in the serial Picket Fences as a public prosecutor. His acting is par excellence, well balanced and effortless !!! It is really refreshing to see him in this challenging role in this movie as a Devout Muslim and bringing a different perspective about the Muslim Religion. To support and come close to compliment this acting was that of Saïd Taghmaoui. He is also brilliant and portrayed his role well in the movie. The story is related to the current terrorism issues, extremism et al. It is gripping and well spread out through the movie and the 1 hour 48 minutes flies by in this gripping drama/ Thriller. Don't miss this movie on many counts especially the acting of Don Cheadle !!!
Tuesday - 1 year, 2 months ago
A fairly good concept, equally good cast both combined enough to see you through to the end, but it never goes anywhere & very little happens despite the lingering hope that something bigger is around the corner. The story leaps about in time and space, with the same tiny slices of story being told over and over again, with incremental increases at each iteration. If you want to see a movie with multiple viewings of the same event, done properly, watch the Stanley Kubrick heist, "The Killing". There is probably less than an hour of actual story-time to the movie. It has been padded out to 79 minutes by the repetitions and an exhausting, irritating and near-impossible-to-read title sequence at the beginning. If you really want to watch "Tuesday", look for a DVD version with English sub-titles, unless you're fluent in a variety of British accents. I was guessing at much of the dialogue, with frequent recourse to the rewind button for second and third hearings of a line.
Der Skipper - 1 year, 2 months ago
The story doesn't seem to make any sense in the beginning and the things that the story lacks in reference to the plot of the film are revealed, in my mind, at the end of the film - like I said, imagination is a marvelous tool or talent, depending on the situation you are viewing! This is about two very twisted and sick women who hitch a ride with a sea skipper to Barbados, he being unaware as to what the two women are really up to!!! The cinematography is wonderful, the editing is horrible! You really have to use your brain to figure out the meaning of this film and to understand the behavior of the women passengers! Worth viewing, depending on what kind of mind you have!
Delta of Venus - 1 year, 3 months ago
Delta of Venus, a collection of short stories by Anias Nin, was one of the first popular works in female erotica. The film is loosely based on the story behind the collection. It fails in trying to incorporate other stories from the collection. The film doesn't fail to be interesting, however. It may drag in the middle, and the dialogue may be a little on the obnoxious side, but it succeeds in being one of the most erotic films I've seen to date. The actors/actresses are simply gorgeous, and the sex scenes are among the hottest and most tasteful. If you're a fan of erotica in general, I suggest you check this one out. If you're looking for a good transition from literature to film, however; you may be looking in the wrong place. Some of the plot elements of this film were vaguely familiar to me, and I don't know if it is from reading "Delta of Venus" lo, those many years ago, or maybe from "Henry and June" the film about Nin and Henry Miller, from 10 years ago or so. Anyway, this is an exceptional film for its genre, with good acting, direction, and pretty decent other assorted production values. I had never seen or heard of Audie England, and her beauty just floored me. Wow! Anyway, if you can at all tolerate soft-core erotica, this film is recommended.
Kinsey - 1 year, 3 months ago
This film is a transitional movie; it is neither a full documentary nor a full drama. It is an excellent movie about everything that you have always wanted to know, but was afraid to ask. The film is at the least a believable story about Kinsey (Liam Nielson) life and a warning to the rest of us of how repressed a culture can become. I think that the courtship between Kinsey and Clara (Laura Linney) is understandable given the period. As is the response that Kinsey received for his work. The film contains some things that you would never expect to see in a feature film, but that is part of the fun. You will learn things about yourself and your fellow man/women that you never expected, or wanted to know. If you want to come to understand a certain part of yourself, then see this movie.
An Awfully Big Adventure - 1 year, 3 months ago
I liked the film and, though I'm sure there were countless other ways that they could've still retained its twisted plot in a more concise way, I enjoyed the uniqueness of its story. It was certainly a sad story and it did catch me by surprise. Alan Rickman was terrific, but I wish I could've seen more of his character because for the amount of time he's in the film it simply wasn't enough, especially since he appeared to be a main character. However, it was entertaining and I really liked it and its originality. Basically every performance in this movie is brilliant, especially Alan Rickman, Peter Firth, Georgina Cates and, my favorite actor, Hugh Grant. This film is a must see for anyone who thinks Mr. Grant is a "wooden" actor, or always plays a "hesitant Englishman" (A ridiculous charge made by people who have seen only a fraction of his acting output).
Crimes of Passion - 1 year, 3 months ago
From director Ken Russell, who never met an excess he didn't like, Crimes of Passion is the story of Joanna Crane - a fashion designer by day, a kinky prostitute named China Blue by night. China finds herself being stalked by a maniacal street preacher (Anthony Perkins) who wants to save her soul; she has also caught the eye of a private investigator (John Laughlin) whose marriage is on the rocks. Crimes of Passion has its share of problems. The dialogue is often excruciatingly bad, and the subplot involving Laughlin and his wife (Annie Potts) is barely watchable. (Don't be surprised if you find yourself getting drowsy; even Potts seems to be struggling to stay awake during her scenes.) But as long as Turner is on screen, the film shines. This is easily the best performance of her career, and it almost makes you forget that this is the same woman that starred in Peggy Sue Got Married and Romancing the Stone. Nothing against those films or her performance in them, but when you see what she does to a cop, you'll get the idea.
A Mulher Invisível - 1 year, 3 months ago
"A Mulher Invisível" is shallow and predictable, but the funny and simple story is delightfully entertaining. This movie works basically because of the performance of the great Brazilian actor Selton Mello and the beauty of the sexy Luana Piovani that is indeed the personification of a perfect woman. The sweet Maria Manoella is also gorgeous and completes very well the triangle of love that Pedro gets involved. I am a big fan of Janis Joplin and I love the wonderful song "A Woman Left Lonely"; but the international soundtrack seems to be out of the context of a Brazilian movie that should have promoted Brazilian singers and bands instead. My vote is seven.
Triage - 1 year, 3 months ago
Definitely a worth wile movie to watch, regardless of its overthrowing qualities and contrived passions. A traumatized war photo-journalist, returns home from Kurdistan, taking the pictures more that he can hoard. But not just the pictures, he is consulted by the psychiatrist and the movie unfolds. The movie hits rock bottom when his psychiatrist tells him "We can't take the pain away, we have to live with it forever...this is called life" when the protagonist is lying on his bed. Collin Ferrell acting is great like always. Overall he does justice to the movie. To be honest this movie seems as it is well behind its time, in moments i felt like it was 80's film. What i actually mean is the movie would have nominated for awards if it was 80's, 2010 was a wrong time. The overall acting is good,I like the score too, the worst part is the movie itself. The movie doesn't lead us anywhere, nonetheless this movie is different than other in the respect that, it doesn't attenuates like other movie. It only gets denser after every minute of it. Last but no the least great story this movie had potential and i myself was expecting much from it but overall the movie is mediocre.
Red - 1 year, 3 months ago
I have no real criticism on the particulars of the film's execution. It was directed well enough as far as a layman like myself could tell. It was well acted and well scripted, and the story moves a reasonable pace. I just am not sure what it is really about… or I thought it would be about more. I think the fault is in the theme of the film. The story should have been more than a bad seed story… or bad seeds in this case, played by Tom Sizemore and Noel Fisher. I think that good v evil morality tale approach was a fallacy especially in these times when the zeitgeist seems a conflicted, self-reflective creature. Cox is captivating in his role, his screen presence is not lacking in any sense. But he is painted as naive, unbelievably trusting in the elemental goodness in man. OK, maybe I am jaded, but Avery Ludlow does not seem real to me, not as a man who lives in and does business in the real world. Granted the film does not embrace stereotypes and moves toward the violent conclusion in a believable fashion, but I was hoping for a more nuanced subtext.
Restraint - 1 year, 3 months ago
The boyfriend who plays Ron in the movie is an excellent actor as well as the girl who plays Dale. the story is about a guy who loves a girl and thinks he rescues her from her awful stripping job but it seems he loves money more than her, but he will do anything for her even kill for her. It happens that they appear on a mans acre that has a phobia, (fear of the outside). Well, Dale looks like the this man's ex-fiancé that left him 6 months ago. Ron wants money, so Dale has to pretend to be the ex-fiancé and go cash some checks and get some jewelry out the bank deposit box. The only problem is Dale might be falling for the other man and Ron might get left out. You will have to watch the story to find out the rest. This is very good story. Check this out.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico - 1 year, 3 months ago
Once Upon a Time In Mexico is an awesome example of the action flick that has a somewhat simple story, really good acting, good gun fights, and is just really enjoyable. The movie may not totally live up to the previous installments of the El Mariachi trilogy, however it is still pretty good. Johnny Depp proves again that he can completely carry a movie on his shoulders as his portrayal of Agent Sands was just the dry, witty, character that makes the movie. Everyone else does good enough in their roles, Enrique Inglasias pulls off his role surprisingly well, as much as I hate to say that. Stop complaining, its a fun movie, just sit back, shut your brain off for 90 minutes and enjoy.
The Usual Suspects - 1 year, 3 months ago
The Usual Suspect is one of those films which tell you that seeing is believing. Don't get me wrong it was a very good film and I am glad I finally got the chance to see it but with critics going on and on about it, they kind of kill the magic of the movie. However that really did not hinder my enjoyment as I decided to treat this just like any other movie. Basic concept of 5 cons on various heist missions until one goes terribly wrong and then the authorities try to establish what went wrong hearing this from the account of one of the crippled crooks (Kevin Spacey). Gabreil Bryne was a excellent in his role as the lead crook and Benico Del Toro was also a stand out performance but we all know that Kevin Spacey was the man who took joy in playing the audience like a piano. A film can start of slow but the ending is the most important thing in the whole thing and I am glad to say that this ending was nothing short of a slap in the face.
Foxy Brown - 1 year, 3 months ago
Great movie for the time it was movie display of how blacks always thought they had to stay one step ahead of the man unfortunately the man always got his in the end but still manages to slip away.this movies show some great styles of the era and those who were of the same age of the character will always fill a sense of regaining a youth of times past but brought back today, you will really enjoy this movie even though you have already seen it see it again and drift away to that time i know i always like to watch it again ans again.look for the other Pam Grier movies they all seem to have her playing the heroine so if you don't mind a woman taking charge this is the movie for you ..
Leon The Professional - 1 year, 3 months ago
A truly original action flick! Far too many times we see actions' in which the director has forgotten that the characters are supposed to be people. In "Leon' there is a high level of character development. We really learn to sympathize with their struggles, particularly with Leon. The unique relationship between Leon and Mathilda is well developed, offering something to those who don't typically enjoy this genre. I am surprised that more people don't know bout this film, i recommend it often and almost always people are unaware of its existence. This is the perfect movie for those who like action but also take pleasure in romance/dramas. A great movie for couples to watch on an evening in!
L.A. Confidential - 1 year, 3 months ago
I can safely give this movie ten out of ten stars because it is worth it.....This is what a movie should be not the crap that they're their peddling these days. This movie is a very intelligent, driven and very entertaining one. Every single actor (no matter how seemingly insignificant they seemed) acted superbly and absolutely wonderful there wasn't a weak performance throughout this movie. Danny DeVito was wonderful, Kevin Spacey was great and Russel Crowe was magnificent.
Deja Vu - 1 year, 3 months ago
This is a tightly written time travel thriller that holds together, with all loose ends tied up. The explanation for the device is a little unbelievable, but hey, it's the movies. Unlike Premonition, which had so many plot inconsistencies that made the film unwatchable, the writers of this screenplay clearly gave their plot line a lot of thought. The director gives you subtle clues throughout the movie that connect events and link them to the plot, so it's possible to keep up with the action without getting too confused, but it does keep you guessing. All in all, a cleverly written sci-fi drama that holds your interest. Denzel, as usual, holds the movie together with another great performance.
Stiletto - 1 year, 3 months ago
Just watched Stiletto - great movie. Lots of action. Well known cast -Amanda Brooks is showing all her range - a must see. Think the ensemble cast work really well together. Original revenge story - and you have to wait till the very end to connect the dots. Nice to see Michael Biehn again after an absence for a while. This is the second Villalonga movie i have seen and i like his work. For action lovers its a real treat. Berringer plays a great crime boss - but not in the Italian style. Chemistry between Biehn and Brooks is electric. Amanda Brooks is really hitting her stride. You can feel the anger flowing out. Very convincing in this role.
Vertical Limit - 1 year, 3 months ago
Vertical Limit is a really good movie. The action in the movie was excellent and breath taking. The movie really drags you into the story especially in the second half when most of the action is taking place. The story seems so real that everybody in the theater was gasping and covering their eyes and stuff like that when things were happening. It's a must see for anyone who likes mountaineering or is just interested in that kind of stuff.
The Vanishing - 1 year, 3 months ago
This is a very breath-taking movie about a very clever killer. The movie is about Jeff played by Kiefer Sutherland who are on the road with his girl friend Rita played by Sandra Bullock when she suddenly disappear. Jeff uses a lot of time trying to find her,but after a while he gives up. After a while he gets contacted by a man who claims that he knows where Rita is and Jeff decides to go with him to find out. What he don't know is that this new guy is the kidnapper. Jeff Bridges does an amazing job as the psycho Barney. This movie is so intense and well played that you have to take a break to breath. A really scary thriller about what can happen in real life.
The Librarian: Quest for the Spear - 1 year, 3 months ago
This movie is all light fun, a send-up of the ancient cliff-hanger genre. The plot and script are cartoon-like, so don't take them seriously. Think Batman. Sonya Walger is great as the nerdy librarian's partner/ bodyguard/ girlfriend. The relationship developing between the couple has some real charm. There's sensitivity and dry humor and joy of life. The humor is great, providing a killer ending for the movie. I loved it when the librarian's mother gapes at his smashing girlfriend - the one she didn't think existed. A priceless moment for anyone who's mother ever nagged you to get out and find someone. I hope they get a new writer and do it again.
Surveillance - 1 year, 3 months ago
Surveillance proved to be highly entertaining from beginning to end. A clever blend of dark comedy, crime thriller, and a slight dash of horror. I was a little surprised by the choice in cast as several well known comedic actors appear in serious roles. What surprised me more is how well they did portraying their characters. For me the characters hold equal credit (as the story) in the entertainment displayed in this film. My only complaint would be the sheer confusion in the story for the first quarter of this film. Of course everything begins to come together but a little more clarity as to what exactly everyone was discussing would have been nice. A minor complaint for an otherwise brilliant movie.
Mystic River - 1 year, 3 months ago
It was a good film with some very good performances, but I was a little bit unclear about what it was trying to say. There are themes about pedophilia, revenge, justice, and trust, but they never all come together into one strong statement at the end. This was also a weakness of Clint Eastwood's UNFORGIVEN. However, this shouldn't discourage people from seeing this film which has some truly great performances. Sean Penn, Kevin Bacon, and Marcia Gay Hardin all give some of the best performances of their career. Lawrence Fishburn gives a very good performance as well as Kevin Bacon's partner.
National Treasure - 1 year, 3 months ago
It's hard to make a PG rated movie that the entire family can enjoy. Harder than that, it's even worse for Disney to make a movie that can entertain children and keep their parents interested as well. National Treasure has just enough history and drama to keep the adults watching. Also, the movie has enough explosions, action sequences and thrills to keep any young adult and most children happy. Not your typical Nicholas Cage role, here we see Nicholas the serious and not the "over the top" performance that we have seen him, like in Con-Air and the Rock. Cage's character is less defensive and more real. An overall good cast and story, the movie has held a large audience unlike most of the films that have gone to the box office
