Best Campaign ad ever.
Thanks for the k John.
That scene on the highway had me on the edge of my seat. Really excited for episode 2 tomorrow. My brother actually bought the first 4 The Walking Dead graphic novels for me last Christmas, so I kind of have an idea about where this season is headed. I won't spoil it for you though, I will say that there are quite a few events that are different from the show. My favorite change is the Darryl character. That guy is badass. You should check out Day By Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne when you're off for the holidays. I really think you'd like it. Well, take care, and I hope school is going well.
from the show.
How's it going John?
I gave you +4 k, so now you're no longer @ -.
What did you think of The Walking Dead season 2 premiere ?
Thanks for accepting the invite, here's some +karma and a clover for luck.
Seriously, Sunday's episode gave me the blood lust, haha.
Between that vamp getting cooked on Marnie's sheild, Jason's hamburger patty face, and Eric's heart shaped sippy cup, the episode felt a little more hardcore. I don't watch any of the previews because I like to be surprised, so yeah...don't know what to expect from the finale.
Only one more episode of Trube Blood left*sniff sniff*
I hope they focus hardcore on the love triangle in the finale.
What are you hoping to see?
John,
I almost forgot to Thank You for taking the time to find my comment.
I understand that as a comment on the film,it should be voted down, because it was not a comment about the film. I should have just created a thread instead of taking up comment space. Also, are you in school if so what's your Major?
Good Morning John,
Thank you for your post.
If I ramble a bit know that I wasn't planning on teaching today, also I need my coffee.
I hate to disappoint you but,I'm actually a registered Independent, and a staunch Progressive. Which means that while I do support fiscal reform(there is a disportionate amount of waste in our government, just look at the missing $6.6 billion of ours in Iraq) I also beleive that there are many ways to actualize it without harming the well being of our citizens.
As far as your argument regarding the "face value" of the Patriot Act,it's flawed.
I think it may be helpful for you to bring up the Patriot Act on your computer as well as The Bill Of Rights and do a side by side comparison. You'll see the discrepencies immediately.
Also the "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques" that were used by the Bush administration directly violates the 3rd article of The Geneva Convention. Do you think it's right for America to sign a contract (because really that's what it is) and then blatantly disregard what they've agreed to? How do you think that reflects upon us as a country?
Let's get back to the attrocity that was 9/11. I don't know how old you were when that happened, however I was 21 and remember the shock and horror that I felt. I was driving to school and had to pull over as did almost every other commuter on the 15 freeway. I supported Bush's initial plan to go to war, until I found out we were going to the wrong country. My brother as I said enlisted in the Corps the following week (as a senior in High School) despite his full ride to U.C.L.A. I come from a military family with only my dad and myself not
serving due to medical reasons. Everyone from my Grandmother (who was a an Army Nurse) to my baby sister has served during war time.
I completely understand and share your love of country. I voted for Bush in his second election. However, I changed my position on the wars when evidence (like no w.m.d.s) came to light, not to mention the friends and family (4 close friends 2 cousins) I've lost during this decade long conflict.
Also, as i mentioned I do teach World Cultures,so I fully understand Sharia Law. While I can accept that it is their religious right to observe it I do not support it, especially as a woman. Really you have to think of Al Qaeda and Al Shabaab as extremists (just like the Branch Davidians at Waco),they do not respresent the norm just like Branch Davidians do not represent the Christian community. According to my brother most Iraqis would prefer to be left to their own devices, and not be bothered by the Jihadists.
On to the redistribution of wealth as you called it.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you make less than $250,000.00 a year right? Well that puts you in the same boat as the rest of us (the Middle Class), on average I pay 25% of my gross income in taxes. I also make $40,000.00 a year which knocks me down to about $30,000 (not including benefits, which we as teachers do pay for). I went to college for 6 years because it took that long to pay for my full tution (I paid as I went). I understand the value of the dollar,I also understand compassion for the well being of others. I don't view it as a redistribution of wealth to expect that people who make nearly 10 times my income pay a higher amount of tax. It's called doing your part. As far as "Entitlements" are concerned these are benefits that people have paid into their whole working lives, why shouldn't they receive them ? They did pay for them after all, it's like an insurance policy (Social Security and Medicare). If you look at your next paycheck stub you'll see that a portion was removed for Medicare tax as well as Social Security, why do you think that is? I find it odd that after years of spending money hand over fist since the Reagan years on military projects some of which were completely unessecary, the Conservatives what to get stingy with federal aid like disaster relief. Why not just reform our tax codes? We'd then have plenty for those affected by natural disasters and some extra to reinvest in the infrastucture of our Nation. Do you oppose that, and if so why? One more question for you before I grab some coffee, looking at the jobs numbers over the past decade, how many estimated jobs were created (here in the U.S. not overseas ) as a direct result of the Bush Tax cuts,or the Trickle Down Economics Theory?
Sorry John,
I've been busy (first week of school).
I did post something in the comments section of the Bush documentary for you and Gunny.
If you'd like to further the discussion, I'm available all weekend and on Monday (Labor Day).
